The Way 

Miyamoto Musashi was the greatest military strategist and two handed swordsman in the history of Japan.  His first dual came at 13 when he struck down a strategist of the **Shinto School, one Arima Kihei. At sixteen, he struck down the then famous strategist Tadashima Akiyama. At twenty-one, he went to the capital and met all manors of strategists, never once losing a contest.

Miyamoto Musashi also became a master of the arts and crafts. He produced masterpieces of Ink Paintings more valued by the Japanese than the ink paintings of any other. Wood and Metal sculptures of nature. He wrote poetry and song. 

Miyamoto Musashi:

• "Do  not think dishonestly.
• The Way is in training.
• Become acquainted with every art.
• Know the Ways of all professions.
• Distinguish between gain and loss in worldly matters.
• Develop intuitive judgment and understanding for everything.
• Perceive those things which cannot be seen.
• Pay attention even to trifles.
• Do nothing which is of no use." 

*Strategy: HEIHO - is a word of Chinese derivation meaning military strategy. "Hei" means soldier. "He" means Method or Form.

** Shinto:  two characters - KAMI = God 
MICHI = Way (the old religion of Japan, many Holies exist. Gods of steel, fermentation, place and industry, and so on. There are the first Gods: ancestors to the Imperial Line.
